Contributor Biography

Siân is a freelance engagement practitioner, facilitator, evaluator and presenter. She is also Wellcome Trust doctoral student in the Centre for Global Studies at Sussex University exploring the use of socially engaged arts to engage biomedical research with the local communities in which health challenges are being faced. Her research was practice based and took place in Kathmandu, Nepal www.jeewanjal.com where she worked with epidemiologists, community arts organisations and local participants to explore and produce works on water and health. Prior to this Sian managed the Wellcome Trust international engagement programme and has worked with engagement programmes and practitioners across Asia, Africa and South America. She has an undergraduate degree in Biology with Media and a Masters degree in Practicing Sustainable Development and has also undergone various training courses including epidemiology, theatre for development, participatory research and development approaches and qualitative and quantitative research methods. She also represents the early careers arts and health research network for the South East of England.
